EDUCATION & CHILDCARE

Welcome to Education and Childcare

These programmes are perfect for anyone with a passion for working with children in a nursery or primary school setting. You will learn the unique skills needed to support young children in your care, and our brand new practical training room at our North Devon campus, will provide you with a dedicated space to practise your skills in a true to life working environment. You will also undertake fantastic work experience opportunities, including the chance to visit Sweden to see how they run their innovative Forest Schools.

There are many pathways available to students who complete courses in education and childcare, from teaching assistants and nursery nurses to social workers and child nurses - and we have a range of higher education courses to help you go even further.

Tracy, Supporting Teaching and learning

"I love working with children, so I decided to take this course. I started with Level 2 first to see if I was capable of completing the course. I enjoyed the Level 2 course so much, I decided to progress onto the Level 3 and it’s been a real blessing as I’ve enjoyed both practical and theory. As much as the assignments have been in many different areas of child

There were have been two highlights of my Childcare course. The first highlight was a trip to Barnstaple Guild Hall where we learned about the history of the Hall and Barnstaple. The second highlight was a project on The Great Fire of London where the children wrote and built houses for the project.

My lecturer has been a great support and helps build your confidence and with a positive encouragement to all."
