Holly tells us about her experience of studying History at Petroc.

"History at Petroc is split into two different topics – a breadth study of Germany and its quest for political stability, and a depth study into the world of the Wars of the Roses. I had partly studied German history at GCSE, but you go so much deeper at A-level that I barely noticed! It was intriguing to find out the causes and consequences of some of the events I previously knew, as we study over 100 years of history. The Wars of the Roses topic covers a smaller period of time, but the detail is extraordinary, and there’s certainly plenty of action thanks to all the feuding families and their many battles. Because it was such a long time ago, things like the motives of historical figures are left open to your interpretation, which makes class discussions really fun! There’s a lot of content, and there will be essay writing too, but teachers give you a lot of support, and if you’re interested in history it’s the perfect course for you."
