Statement Of Attainment towards (ICT30118) Certificate III in Information, Digital Media & Technology

This course provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in a range of activities and functions in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Industry. Students will build simple websites, produce digital images for the web and provide IT advice to clients.

The ICT industry incorporates a range of different businesses and industry sectors including ICT service providers, purchasers and users of ICT goods and services, technical support providers, multimedia and web development specialists, desktop publishers, graphic designers, programmers and help desk operators.

PLEASE NOTE :This is a new qualification for 2022. At the time of publication, NESA’s syllabus has not been published. As a result, the units of competency listed below may change.

  • ICTSAS305 - Provide ICT advice to clients

  • BSBWHS311 - Assist with maintaining workplace safety

  • BSBXCS303 - Securely manage personally identifiable information and workplace information

  • ICTICT313 - Identify IP, ethics and privacy policies in ICT environments

  • ICTPRG302 - Apply introductory programming techniques

  • BSBXTW301 - Work in a team

  • ICTICT214 - Operate application software packages

  • ICTICT302 - Install and optimize operating system software

  • ICTWEB304 - Build simple web pages

  • ICTWEB305 - Produce digital images for the web

  • ICTSAS308 - Run standard diagnostic tests

ELIGIBLIBTY FOR QUALFICATION:

Students assessed as fulfilling the requirements for all the units in the 240 hour course will be eligible for a ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology. Students achieving at least one unit of competency will be eligible for an AQF Statement of Attainment showing partial completion of their qualification.

ASSESSMENT:

This course is competency based and the student's performance is assessed against prescribed industry standards. Assessment methods may include :

  • Observation

  • Student Demonstration

  • Questioning

  • Written tasks

WORK PLACEMENT:

Students studying this VET course are required to complete a minimum of 70 hours work placement. This is a mandatory requirement of NESA. Failure to complete the mandatory work placement hours could jeopardise a student's eligibility to be awarded the Higher School Certificate.

DUTIES AND TASKS IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPOR :

  • Identify the hardware and software needed to provide solutions to problems

  • Assist with the customisation and adaptation of existing programmes to meet users' requirements

  • Provide telephone, face-to-face and online support to customers

  • Download and install appropriate software

  • Connect users to networks and provide initial training in facilities and applications

  • Talk with vendors and programmers

  • Provider information relating to customers' hardware and software purchasing decision's

  • Make sure users can use the equipment by providing person tuition and self- help instructions

  • Undertake housekeeping and reporting functions for the area of responsibility
