Students will develop the necessary knowledge and skills involved in running a business. Students will have the opportunity to develop a business idea and, where possible, raise funds for Catholic non-profit organisations such as St Vincent De Paul, Catholic Mission, Caritas Australia and Aid to the Church in Need.
Students will commence their collaborative project by forming partnerships and brainstorming ideas for their business. Students will then present their idea to the College Executive for approval. This project focuses on the practical components of establishing and running a business and once their idea has been approved, students will implement their idea. Through the process of implementation students will experience practical aspects of human relations, marketing and finance.
ICT will be heavily incorporated to facilitate collaboration and develop students’ digital literacy skills within a business context.
Particular areas of focus include:
Choice - Examining the role of the consumer and the goals of a business.
Independence - Examining the relationship between finance and business. This includes determining business goals and structure.
Execution of Ideas - Students demonstrate how to develop and run a business.
Success - Students reflect on their business operations and recommend strategies for improvement.
