Visual Arts

Visual Arts can be studied as a one-year course or a two-year course and is open to students in Years 9 and 10.

Visual Arts will equip students with an exemplary skill base for careers in creative industries.

The content is based around exploring art from critical and historical perspectives by exploring various artists and their practice. The art making in this course tests the boundaries as it is unconventional and highly contemporary. Students may explore mediums such as ceramics, public art, installations, street art, sculpture and virtual reality through a combination of foundational skills and new technologies.

In today’s society, it is a very exciting time to be a creator. The workforce is taking a massive shift to focus on the skills acquired in Visual Arts of creativity, ambiguity, critical thinking, collaboration, designing and constructing. These skills can elevate your practice in any career.

Topics may include:

'Beyond Reality'

Ceramics / Sculpture 3D

Students create a ceramic piece which explores the beauty in the unexpected, the uncanny and the unconventional.

'Be The Change'

Street Art / Collaborative Mural 2D

Students design and create a collaborative mural to promote a more positive approach to street art.

'Landscapes, Dreamscapes and Seascapes'

Virtual Reality / Tilt Brush 4D

Students create a virtual world to project our imagination to their audience.

'Make or Break '


Graphic Design / Marketing Merchandise


Students create a graphic design to promote positive youth activism through wearable merchandise.
