Industrial Technology - Timber can be studied as a one-year course or a two-year course and is open to students in Years 9 and 10.
The aim of Stage 5 Industrial Technology is to apply knowledge of timber, woodworking processes and tools in order to design, construct and critically evaluate functional timber products.
Knowledge
Students will develop knowledge of:
Work Health and Safety practices
risk-management procedures
the properties of timber
tools, equipment and processes used to manufacture timber products
the impact of timber technologies on society and the environment.
Skills
Students will develop skills to be able to:
design and produce timber products
communicate ideas with a range of audiences
skills to critically evaluate manufactured products
Course Requirements
A design and production portfolio or engineering report is required for each project completed. This will form part of the overall assessment of each project.
Students must comply with all Work Health and Safety practices when engaged in practical activities.
