RTP plans are available for prep students through to secondary students by accessing the school website about How RTP Works.
When you have printed and completed a plan you need to arrange to conference your plan with someone in the RTC. This will usually be done either via a Hangout or phone call.
The student’s perception and the teacher/parent perception should never be the same. They are two different people and it is appropriate that they would each view a situation and the motives behind the situation differently.
Eg. Student- I was talking to my friend vs Teacher/Parent – I was being distracting to the class by talking.
Students must use ‘I will’ statements. Any time the word ‘not’ is used, the statement is required to be rewritten to reflect an I will.
Eg. I will be quiet rather than I will not talk. The student cognitively connects to the last word, quiet. Try this trick out at home.
Students must use observable behaviours.
Eg. I will sit on my chair rather than I will think about the consequences. We often say to students ‘if we were walking past the classroom what would we see’, we cannot see thinking or remembering, their ideas need to be tangible.
Here you will find video demonstrations about how to complete RTP plans for lower primary, upper primary and secondary students.
