Flying Restrictions
Here are some common questions a pilot might have about flying their drone at any operations level.
Question: What is the max Height a drone can fly at?
Answer: 400 AGL (above ground level), or 100 ft above a building if less than 200 ft from it, or 100 ft above people not involved in the operation
Question: What is the minimal Visual Range Needed for a drone?
Answer: 3 statute (regular miles that can be measured on ground - roughly 4000 meters)
Question: When do Drones have Right of Way over other aircraft?
Answer: Never
Question: How many drones can you fly at once?
Answer: No pilot shall operate more than one remotely piloted aircraft at a time unless the remotely piloted aircraft system is designed to for the operation of more than one RPAS from a single command unit
Question: When do you report an accident your drone has been in?
Answer: ASAP
Other Rules
It is also important to note that there are instances when drones are not allowed to be used.
The following is not permitted when flying drones:
Do not operate an aircraft over a forest fire
Unless a Special Operations Certificate is granted, pilots may not transport:
explosive, corrosive, flammable, or bio-hazardous material;
weapons, ammunition or other equipment designed for use in war;
Any item that could create a hazard to aviation safety or cause injury to persons;
Any item attached to the aircraft with a line
Carry or transport a living creature on their drone
