Unit Objectives

By the end of this unit, students will be able to: 

• Spell and ID M7, Dom7, m7, º7, and ø7 chords in root-position and inversion using lead sheet and figured bass notation.

• Identify 7th chords in open spacing on multiples staves in examples from the literature using lead sheet and figured bass notation.

• Aurally identify M7, Dom7, m7, º7, and ø7 chords when played as a block or arpeggiated.
