Unit Objectives

By the end of this unit, students will be able to: 

• Write and sing a major scale beginning on any given note. 

• Write and ID the key signature for any given major key. 

• Identify the key of a melodic excerpt. 

• Identify major scale steps using scale degree names or solfege. 

• Transcribe or sing a short melody in a major key, using only stepwise movement. 

• Transpose a melody in a major key to another key.
