Leeds Enrichment Afterschool Program
Our Late Bird program provides after school enrichment clubs for our Leeds Elementary School students in grades 1-5. Clubs focus on Visual Arts, Crafts, Sports, Performing/ Movement/ Sound Arts, Computer Programming, Robotics, Engineering, Science, Languages, Movement/ Meditation/ Mindfulness, Cooperative Group Games, and Nature. Clubs are facilitated by our Teachers, Paraeducators, Late Bird Staff, Caregivers, and Community Members, and generally hold between 8-12 students, or more for larger group activities and team sports. The program aims to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children get to try new things and get to know other students and staff. We believe that enrichment opportunities and social emotional work are key to supporting intellectual growth. Through our Enrichment program, we aim to engage students in new experiences, physical and creative outlets, building new relationships, practicing communication skills, and challenging themselves. We prioritize getting to know each individual student, and we take a restorative approach to conflict resolution.
To offer quality afterschool enrichment activities that provide students with experiences beyond the regular school day
To provide a structured and safe environment that fosters responsible behavior, respect for others, and positive attitudes
To provide a caring staff who are responsive to each child’s needs and build lessons around the children's interests and strengths
To provide a warm, welcoming, and celebratory space for children to be themselves
Our enrichment clubs generally run consecutively throughout the school year, beginning in October.
