We will take a short walk down the bike path to the beautiful Mill River. Each week we’ll explore different things based on the group’s interests and the natural conditions. We’ll start with a short community circle activity. Then kids might choose to look for salamanders, create paint pigment from rocks and bricks, identify plants, build art from natural materials, create songs and dances inspired by what we see, or just chill and relax by the river. When it is warm we may wade and explore in the shallows. We may be visited by guests and hear stories of the river’s history and ecosystem. We’ll walk to the river each day and, unless there is extreme weather, be outside the entire time. We’ll return to school for pickup no earlier than 4pm (earlier pickups can be arranged down at the river).
Fridays, Grades 3-5
