Chess Club is a chance for kids to learn the game of chess or improve on their existing skills. Each day, we will learn new strategies and play games against each other, culminating in a tournament later in the semester. Open to students in grades 1-5.

Do you ever wonder where all our stuff goes? Do you ever wish you could save something from being thrown away? In Trash Club, we will explore how recycling and composting work, learn where our “trash” goes, and learn how to reduce waste in fun, creative ways! We will turn everyday craft supplies, and materials that might otherwise be thrown away, into art and inventive creations! Open to students in grades 1-5.

This is an exciting chance for 4th and 5th grade students to build their leadership skills. Students will learn group management and conflict resolution skills, and put the skills into practice by leading games, reading, art activities with younger students.

Storytelling is a club for kids who love to read and write, or would like to hone their writing skills. The group will choose from a variety of fun activities such as cut out poetry, dice storytelling, word association, writing prompts, and other activities that encourage play with language. Open to students in grades 3-5.

Come learn to cook (and eat!) some fun recipes together! Open to 4th and 5th grade. ($15 materials fee)

In this fun and relaxing club, students will be introduced to various fiber arts techniques such as knitting, crochet, embroidery, and/or sewing. Throughout the session, students will work on independent projects, while socializing with friends and listening to music, podcasts, and audio books! Open to students in grades 2-5.

Together we will enjoy the painting process and spend some time with Ms. Macutkiewicz before she retires! Paint your own canvas to bring home with you, or donate it to the end of year PTO auction. Open to grades 3-4.

In Board Games club, we will start with familiar and easy to learn games, like Candyland and Spot It, and work our way up to new and more challenging games. Students will be introduced to a new game each week, from collaborative games to strategy games and Chess/Checkers. Open to game lovers at all levels of experience in grades 1-5.

Are you an aspiring writer, comic creator, or budding reporter? Do you love telling stories—or helping others tell theirs? Are you curious, creative, and eager to uncover any mysteries at Leeds? Then the Newspaper Club is the perfect place for you! Whether you write fiction, draw comics, report the news, or just have a story to tell, we welcome all storytellers and truth-seekers. Open to students in grades 3–5.

Being part of a choral ensemble offers very unique learning opportunities. During our rehearsal time, we will prepare music for various performances throughout the season. The students will learn how to sing with proper technique and sound. Most importantly, they will work together as a team to craft a beautiful and unified choral sound. Open to grades 4-5.

This is an intro to the Leeds Chorus and a fun chance to sing along with friends. Students will begin to learn proper singing technique, listening skills, focus and discipline, and working together as a group. Open to grades 2-3.

Emma Lodge
Bridge Builders is a collaborative space to build and practice conflict mediation skills. Participants will build community through collaborative games and learn and practice creative problem solving and listening skills that can be used in all parts of their lives. This is an exciting pilot program for Leeds. In the winter and spring, students from this club will have the chance to work as student mediators at Late Bird and Recess! Open to students in grades 4-5.

Library club is a chance for students to explore the library in a small setting and have individual reading time in an independent setting. Each week we will begin by sharing a story together, then students will be allowed to explore the library and read. We will finish the club day by doing small projects about what they read. Students may also elect to create a book or write their own poetry during this time. Open to grades 1-5.

Do you like going outside? Maybe you are curious about the natural world around you? Join the Forest Friends Club—a place for nature lovers, adventurers, and future earth-keepers! Together, we’ll learn outdoor skills, discover what lives in the woods, and find out how we can care for the planet! From tree tops to rocks—we’ll ask big questions, make exciting discoveries, and spend time outside whenever we can! Open to students in grades 2-5.

Mountain Biking club is a chance to learn about bikes and bike safety. On nice weather days we will go on bike rides together to nearby destinations, such as Look Park, and on indoor days we'll learn about bike parts and bike maintenance. Be prepared to ride if it's raining lightly. Open to students with basic biking skills in grades 3-5. *must have a bike and helmet - Contact us if you do not own a bike or helmet and need assistance getting one.

Magic the Gathering (MtG) is a card game where you play as an array of fantasy roles and monsters, and compete against other players! This game is similar to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This club is a chance to learn the game or help teach the game to friends. If you have a MtG deck, feel free to bring it. Open to students in grades 3-5.
