LEAP Session 2: Spring 2022

Mondays and Fridays

In this club, we will learn ~and play!~ different board games - strategy games, cooperative games, silly games, simulation games, and puzzles. Throughout the 7 weeks, students will have the chance to design and build their own board game. Open to beginner and pro gamers in grades 2-5. 

Mondays and Fridays

Create the change you want to see in our world! Social Justice Club students are discovering real ways to build equity and inclusion within the Leeds community and the world. Lead a podcast, create posters, design a website, discuss with local leaders, and make a difference. SJC leaders will help to create a Leeds community that embraces and welcomes diversity. SJC will use practices including restorative justice, dialogue, and community engagement to put equity into action and build skills that will prepare students for leadership, compassion and social responsibility. Open to 4th and 5th grade. 

Mondays

In this club students will build small dwellings using materials gathered from the outdoors. We will focus on using our imaginations to create an outdoor scene fit for a... fairy! Students will be able to choose to leave their fairy houses in place, or bring them home at the end of the club. Open to grades K-5. 

Mondays

We will learn chess basics and play against each other to hone our skills! Open to all grade levels, and all levels of experience with chess. 

Tuesdays and Thursdays

Do you have stories to tell about what's happening here at Leeds, or want to help others share their stories? Join our newspaper club to create our very own school newspaper! Stories, interviews, investigations... we'll do it all! Open to grades 3-5. 

Tuesdays

Come learn how to use our brand new Dash Robots with Mr. P! Open to students in grades 3-5. 

Tuesdays

We will use theater games and tools to investigate the power dynamics and problems in our lives. Each day will be a mix of improv games and skit building. We will be detectives, clowns, and playwrights by the time the club ends! Open to all grade levels. 

Thursdays

Let's Dance! This club will bring together dance and mindfulness. We will take some inspiration from Yoga, Nature, and the Music we listed to. Each day we will do a collaborative stretch and warm up, and we will learn and create new dance routines together. We will then build a collective choreography to perform at our Spring Showcase. Open to all grades and all levels of experience with dance/yoga. 

Thursdays

In this club students will practice mindfulness techniques and create art that is meant to be mindful, creative, and relaxing in its process. We will focus on the process of creating for the purpose of creating, without the pressure of a "finished" product. Our days together will include art making and yoga and movement activities. Open to grades 1-5. 

Fridays

Mega Mini Land Construction - Where we build a miniature city, civilization or adventure park using trash, basic craft materials, and our imaginations. Come build your dream world... (that fits on a table top)! Open to students in grades 2-5.

Fridays

Stuffies, Tank Tops, and Jewels, oh my! This club will have you sewing up a storm and designing your own fashion looks. Bring your creativity and be ready to learn together and share ideas. By the end of this club, you will have a new fluffy friend, a new tank top (or bag), and a new bracelet. Beginner or experienced sewers are welcome! Open to all grade levels.
