Aref M. Rahman, MD, is an interventional cardiologist and is certified in cardiology and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is the director of the cardiac catherization lab at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, and practices cardiology and interventional cardiology at UPMC Passavant and UPMC Jameson. He is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard Medical School, followed by fellowships at UPMC and Allegheny General Hospital.
Dr. Rahman joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 2009. His clinical interests include coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and the use of simulation training in the education of the cardiology fellows. Dr. Rahman has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the Society of Coronary Angiography and Intervention. He lives in Sewickley with his wife and two boys. He is an avid soccer player and coaches his son’s soccer team. He loves to travel around the world with his family.
