Ms Nash, MS CCC-SLP, is a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP). She graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After a short stint in the field of human resources, she attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Ms Nash worked at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for over 25 years. She worked with both inpatient and outpatient children with a primary focus on speech sound production disorders, including apraxia of speech, language development in children with developmental disorders and autism, and feeding/swallowing evaluation and treatment. Ms Nash worked on many multi-disciplinary teams that included physical therapists, occupational therapists, and physicians to evaluate and provide treatment plans for infants and children with feeding and swallowing disorders. While at Children’s Hospital, she also worked as a research SLP on projects focusing on pediatric speech sound production disorders, and speech sound production difficulties following traumatic brain injury.
Currently, Ms Nash is employed as adjunct faculty at Duquesne University in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology. In this capacity, she has taught courses in Phonetics and Speech Science. She has also provided clinical supervision to graduate students in the department’s Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic.
For over the past 13 years, after her son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D), Ms Nash has volunteered in various capacities with Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF). This organization provides resources and support for people with T1D, as well as raising funds for research to find a cure for T1D. Ms Nash currently serves on the board of Breakthrough T1D and especially enjoys volunteering with community engagement events and advocacy.
When not working or volunteering, Ms Nash enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors, and reading. Ms Nash has 3 kids who have all attended NA.
