Steve graduated with a BS in Environmental Geology from the University of Pittsburgh and is a geotechnical engineering consultant for WSP USA, Inc. located in Wexford, PA. He’s been working as a licensed professional geologist for 18 years. His work focuses on geologic hazards such as landslides and sinkholes and the many ways to fix the problems that they cause.
He has worked on exciting hazard mitigation projects across the US, including landslides and underground mine fires in Appalachia, karst sinkholes in Tennessee, an oil spill stream restoration in Kansas, and arroyo washouts in Arizona. He specializes in geologic hazard management programs which identify, categorize, and prioritize funding for mitigation projects. His primary clients are natural gas pipeline operators whose assets span North America. He has also worked on several local civil infrastructure projects such as the Southern Beltway highway design.
He will explain the multi-disciplinary approach to solve complex geo-environmental problems. His project teams consist of geologists, mechanical engineers (pipeline), civil engineers (geotechnical / hydrotechnical), GIS professionals, biologists, surveyors, LiDAR pilots, and construction contractors.
