Julie Lechliter is a healthcare professional that is passionate and diligent about patient safety and quality improvement, with a robust background in Health Informatics, Corporate Revenue Cycle, and Information Technology. She holds a Master of Science in Health Informatics, Lean Green Belt and a Health Informatics Cybersecurity certification from the University of Pittsburgh. Julie also holds a Certificate in Medical Billing/Coding and Medical Terminology from the Community College of Allegheny County, and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Indiana University of PA. Her professional certifications include Registered Health Information Administrator (AHIMA) and Certified Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (NHA), as well as Data Governance Advocate and Data Analyst Advocate credentials from Alation.
Julie’s career spans various roles in Information Technology and Corporate Revenue Cycle; Julie's current work is as a Systems Analyst for Enterprise Data Quality in both Patient ID Management and leading the Operational efforts for UPMC’s Enterprise Data Catalog. She has extensive experience in Corporate Revenue Cycle Management at UPMC, having served as Patient Information Coordinator, ED Patient Services Representative, Birth Registrar, Admissions Data Quality Monitor, Lead Implementation-Optimization-Training Specialist, and Manager of Patient Access at UPMC Mercy. Her skills encompass patient account research and resolution, patient management via Enterprise Master Person Index, team engagement, educational program development, project planning and management, process streamlining, and data analysis and management.
Julie has a proven track record of leading projects to enhance operational efficiency. Her strengths include creative problem-solving, a data quality mindset, flexibility, empathy, leadership, time management, and communication skills.
Julie’s accomplishments and activities reflect her commitment to professional growth and community involvement. She is a RedChairPGH Brave Retreat Scholarship Recipient and has held various leadership roles in UPMC Women in IT, including Chairperson for External Outreach and Collegiate Mentorship Coordinator. She has been recognized as a UPMC ACES Nominee and has served as Vice President for Membership of the University of Pittsburgh Graduate Student Health Informatics Council. Julie is also active in Sigma Alpha Iota, serving as Vice-President of the Alumnae Chapter, and is involved in community activities such as being the Logan Elementary PTO President and an East Allegheny Youth Soccer Coach.
Julie grew up in Pittsburgh and currently lives just outside of town with her family, which includes her 3 children. Julie enjoys reading, crafting, and trying restaurants and coffee shops all over the city. She is a fan of Pittsburgh sports, especially the Penguins, and proudly calls herself a Yinzer!
