I work for the University of Florida with a group of biologists and researchers who have been studying wildlife in the Everglades for over 40 years. Our projects are funded by federal agencies such as the Army Corps of Engineers, Florida Wildlife Commission, and the National Park Service. All projects are designed to protect our native wildlife species. We monitor alligator and crocodile populations to assess effectiveness of restoration projects taking place within the Everglades and take physical measurements to assess demographics. We utilize telemetry PIT tags to track invasive Burmese pythons to understand and predict their movement patterns. We also conduct surveys in Everglades National Park to map road crossings and habitat use of mammals, amphibians, and reptiles.
