Dave Guttendorf is an alumnus of North Allegheny (’96) and went on to graduate from Carnegie Mellon University with a B.S. and M.S. of Electrical Computer Engineering (’01). From there Dave worked at the Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida for 10 years as a Software Engineer working on various embedded systems including a weather satellite. Dave moved back to Pittsburgh 10 years ago and has been working at the National Robotics Engineering Center at Carnegie Mellon University where he is a Principal Robotics Engineer.
Dave has been leading a research group that is developing new techniques to test robots to ensure they are safe. Dave has also worked on robots that are used in underground mines, material handling, and robots that work together to find objects in large areas and in harsh environments.
