Travid D. Hull, MD, PhD was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and attended Forest Hills High School, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2005. He went on to complete a BS in biology and microbiology at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, where he also graduated summa cum laude with honors in Biology in 2009. During his time at Juniata, he was an active researcher in microbial genetics, and was awarded a Goldwater Scholarship. Travis went on to attend the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), earning both an MD and a PhD. His PhD was completed in immunology and microbiology in the Division at Cardiothoracic Surgery at UAB. He was awarded a grant from the American Heart Association to fund his research, which focused on the role of tissue resident macrophages in allograft rejection. He published over 20 peer-reviewed publications during his PhD. Upon completion of medical school in 2017, Travis went on to pursue his surgical training at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He completed general surgery residency in 2022 and is currently a clinical fellow cardiac surgeon at the MGH. Travis and his wife, Ericka, have 4 children and are avid outdoor enthusiasts. They enjoy spending their free time traveling to hike, paddle whitewater, and alpine ski.
