Greetings families!
We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week for our Open House. It has been two years since we have been able to host this event and we are excited for you to see the amazing things your student has been hard at work on!
We are already discussing the end of our 3rd quarter already coming up! How time flies! We are also working on finalizing much of our Spring plans and dates. Please review the Upcoming Dates closely so that you can mark your calendars.
As our weather changes to much cooler temperatures, we follow the district's weather protocols for outdoor recess. If the temperature or wind chill is at 35 or above, we will be going outside! Please label any jackets, hats, scarves with your child's first and last name so that we can return any found items to them if left on the playground. We love for our students to be able to expend that energy outside if possible.
See you soon!
Always True Blue,
Amanda Bunch

Talent Show Auditions are being done with video auditions this school year.

The videos should be submitted using the online entry form
or submit a video to rgarza@nisdtx.org by using wetransfer.com.

The dress rehearsal for the show will be held Tuesday, April 5th in the Beck Music Room from 3-4:30pm.
All students performing in the show MUST attend the dress rehearsal.
Students who do not attend the Dress Rehearsal or do not make prior arrangements will have their act eliminated from the talent show. Please make sure that all members of the act are able to attend.
Talent Show Rules
Please read these requirements carefully. The Talent Show Committee, consisting of teachers,
will screen acts for appropriateness, quality, and safety.
Rules:
A variety of acts are encouraged. (singing, playing a musical instrument, performing a skit, doing magic tricks, performing stand-up comedy, juggling, or any other unique talent)
The act must be thought out and prepared well in advance so that the students can do their
very best at the audition.
3. All performers must be Beck Elementary students in any grade. Exception will be for one adult performing an accompanying role (ie: keyboard, guitar).
4. All acts must be NO LONGER THAN 3 MINUTES. Only 15 student acts or less will be invited to perform at the talent show due to a time limit for the Byron Nelson Auditorium.
5. Students may only perform in ONE ACT, unless participating in a teacher-sponsored act (Beck Choir, or grade level performance).
6. All lyrics and music must be appropriate for a school event. This includes any song being used during the act. If there is a “clean” version of a song, then it is still inappropriate to be used due to the nature and content of the lyrics.
7. All acts must be fully prepared for the audition – words memorized, choreography completed, etc. If an act is not prepared for the audition it will not be considered for the show.
No “lip sync” routines will be allowed in the Talent Show. If singing, accompaniment tracks must not have lead vocals.
Hello parents,
This week in art class our 3rd -5th grade students have been participating in a contest called "Doodle for Google". This gives students a chance to create their own google logo based off of this year's theme (I care for myself by...). The winner/finalists are rewarded a scholarship towards college and other fun technology packages. I think this is a great opportunity for our students! I gave them class time to begin their doodles but informed them they must complete these doodles and submit them at home.
While this contest is not mandatory, if your student is interested in submitting their doodle, they will need your support to do so. All you need to do is visit the website https://doodles.google.com/d4g/ and the website will walk you through the steps. The deadline to upload their doodle is March 4th, 2022.
Below I will list the prizes for the winners/finalists:
NATIONAL WINNER:
$30,000 Scholarship to college
$50,000 Technology package for their school
Google hardware (this is typically a free google phone, laptop, or tablet)
Fun google swag (probably a shirt/bag/hat with the google logo on it)
FINALISTS (There will be 4 finalists):
$5,000 Scholarship to college
Google hardware (this is typically a free google phone, laptop, or tablet)
Fun google swag (probably a shirt/bag/hat with the google logo on it)
STATE & TERRITORY WINNERS:
Google hardware (this is typically a free google phone, laptop, or tablet)
A congratulatory message from google
Fun google swag (probably a shirt/bag/hat with the google logo on it)
Thank you for helping support our students here at Beck! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. My email is Andrea.Carlton@nisdtx.org
We welcome all Watch DOGS (Dad's of Great Students) to come volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, please select a date and time slot that you want to volunteer on the sign up. When you arrive at school on the date you've signed up for, please check in with the front office. They will sign you in and you will receive a schedule based on the grade-level of your student.
Watch D.O.G.S. schedules follow the schedule of your student for either the a.m. or p.m. time slot. While your student is in class, your child's teacher may have some tasks they would appreciate help with, we like to have our D.O.G.S. do a safety check around the building and report any needs to our Office Manager, and overall support students in class where needed.
Dads, please be sure you have already completed the online background check before signing up. A new background check is required for each school year.
Please note one change to Watch D.O.G.S., we now have time slots set up for 1/2 days, either 7:40-11:30am or 11:30-3:00pm.
Please plan to arrive 5 minutes prior to your child's lunch period. All visitors will need to check in with the office using their valid driver's license or government issued ID. We are limiting 2 visitors per student.
There will be assigned tables for parents to have lunch with their child. Only you and your child will be able eat at the parent/student tables. No friends allowed.
When students line up after lunch, you will need to exit through the office. For safety and security reasons, parents cannot follow students to class or the playground.
If you need to cancel, please email beckelem@nisdtx.org so another visitor can take that spot!
Save the date for our 4th Annual Beck Gala March 4th
Our teachers will be ready to welcome students and parents to our Open House by 4:30pm. Please help us by providing snacks for our teachers to hold them over as they stay longer that evening!
Please make sure you purchase your digitals and prints in the next TWO WEEKS as the images will be taken down after that! Digitals will be available without the watermark after purchase and prints will be printed without the watermark as well. Also, there are sets at the top of the navigation page to help you find your images. Simply click the grocery cart icon on your images and select what you'd like to purchase.

Following feedback from families, teachers, staff and campus administrators, Northwest ISD will update its district calendar. Two early-release days will turn into full days, February 21 will become a staff day, and March 22 will become a normal school day. For more information, read Dr. Warren's letter: conta.cc/3rHUEgO
Graduating seniors from the district now have the opportunity to apply for dozens of scholarships, each funded and provided by the Northwest ISD Education Foundation. The 2022 online application, which will remain open through Monday, February 28, is available at the foundation’s website.
The application process is open to any full-time NISD senior who has been enrolled at a district high school since at least the first day of the 2021-22 school year. Seniors must be attending an accredited institution in the summer or fall of 2022. Impending graduates may use NEF scholarship funds toward continued education at an accredited institution, including college, university, military academy or trade school.
