Greetings families!
We have a big week this week! Today has been a spectacular day of celebrating our 1st and 2nd grade students at Fairy Tale Ball. Each grade-level had a fun Valentine's Party and passed out some great treats that we cannot wait to send home! Tomorrow, we get to have our annual Beckopoly event. This is quite the event for our school, it is one of our most attended events. For new families, your student does not have to be selling a product, you are welcome to come and purchase some great student designed and created products for mostly $1 Beck Bucks. My own daughter loves this event and it is great way to support classmates in their creativity and ingenuity. Hope to see you there! Finally, we have our Father Daughter Dance this Friday! The theme is Hearts and Spurs. There will be a petting zoo, axe throwing, smore station, a food truck to purchase dinner or a snack if you wish and of course dancing!
We are grateful to be in a place where we are able to have more events and moving further in to the direction of normal.
Always True Blue,
Amanda Bunch

Hello parents,
This week in art class our 3rd -5th grade students have been participating in a contest called "Doodle for Google". This gives students a chance to create their own google logo based off of this year's theme (I care for myself by...). The winner/finalists are rewarded a scholarship towards college and other fun technology packages. I think this is a great opportunity for our students! I gave them class time to begin their doodles but informed them they must complete these doodles and submit them at home.
While this contest is not mandatory, if your student is interested in submitting their doodle, they will need your support to do so. All you need to do is visit the website https://doodles.google.com/d4g/ and the website will walk you through the steps. The deadline to upload their doodle is March 4th, 2022.
Below I will list the prizes for the winners/finalists:
NATIONAL WINNER:
$30,000 Scholarship to college
$50,000 Technology package for their school
Google hardware (this is typically a free google phone, laptop, or tablet)
Fun google swag (probably a shirt/bag/hat with the google logo on it)
FINALISTS (There will be 4 finalists):
$5,000 Scholarship to college
Google hardware (this is typically a free google phone, laptop, or tablet)
Fun google swag (probably a shirt/bag/hat with the google logo on it)
STATE & TERRITORY WINNERS:
Google hardware (this is typically a free google phone, laptop, or tablet)
A congratulatory message from google
Fun google swag (probably a shirt/bag/hat with the google logo on it)

We welcome all Watch DOGS (Dad's of Great Students) to come volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, please select a date and time slot that you want to volunteer on the sign up. When you arrive at school on the date you've signed up for, please check in with the front office. They will sign you in and you will receive a schedule based on the grade-level of your student.
Watch D.O.G.S. schedules follow the schedule of your student for either the a.m. or p.m. time slot. While your student is in class, your child's teacher may have some tasks they would appreciate help with, we like to have our D.O.G.S. do a safety check around the building and report any needs to our Office Manager, and overall support students in class where needed.
Dads, please be sure you have already completed the online background check before signing up. A new background check is required for each school year.
Please note one change to Watch D.O.G.S., we now have time slots set up for 1/2 days, either 7:40-11:30am or 11:30-3:00pm.
Please plan to arrive 5 minutes prior to your child's lunch period. All visitors will need to check in with the office using their valid driver's license or government issued ID. We are limiting 2 visitors per student.
There will be assigned tables for parents to have lunch with their child. Only you and your child will be able eat at the parent/student tables. No friends allowed.
When students line up after lunch, you will need to exit through the office. For safety and security reasons, parents cannot follow students to class or the playground.
If you need to cancel, please email beckelem@nisdtx.org so another visitor can take that spot!
Make sure to save the date for these upcoming events, more information will be shared soon.

Following feedback from families, teachers, staff and campus administrators, Northwest ISD will update its district calendar. Two early-release days will turn into full days, February 21 will become a staff day, and March 22 will become a normal school day. For more information, read Dr. Warren's letter: conta.cc/3rHUEgO
Please remember to keep your child home if he or she is exhibiting symptoms of COVID. Additionally, students must follow a 10-day quarantine from the onset of symptoms before returning to schools. While the staff quarantine timeline has changed, depending on symptom recovery, the Texas Education Agency and Texas Department of State Health Services have not changed their guidance for student quarantine. For more information, please view our Health & Safety Protocols.
Graduating seniors from the district now have the opportunity to apply for dozens of scholarships, each funded and provided by the Northwest ISD Education Foundation. The 2022 online application, which will remain open through Monday, February 28, is available at the foundation’s website.
The application process is open to any full-time NISD senior who has been enrolled at a district high school since at least the first day of the 2021-22 school year. Seniors must be attending an accredited institution in the summer or fall of 2022. Impending graduates may use NEF scholarship funds toward continued education at an accredited institution, including college, university, military academy or trade school.
