Greetings families!
Happy New Year! May this year bring better health and well being to all students, staff and families. I am eager for 2022 to get under way, 2021 had brought about some great changes with us being able to start the school year in person and on time, as well as opening up our campus again for volunteers, lunches, and Watch DOGS. This semester will bring back several of our much anticipated PTA events including Beckopoly and our 1st Grade's Fairy Tale Ball! Please review all upcoming dates to see when these exciting opportunities take place.
We are aware that there have been some common cold, flu, strep and still Covid going around during the break. Please remember to keep your child home if they have any cold/flu symptoms. Our health and safety protocols are still that students should be fever free and nauseous/vomitting/diarrhea free for 24 hours, during any school year. In our Covid protocol guidelines, we still monitor for any of the below symptoms. If your child requests to go to the clinic because of any of the symptoms and displays two or more of those symptoms, we will send your child home for the remainder of the day. Please reach out to Nurse Davis mdavis03@nisdtx.org if you have any questions.

Hello Parents!
I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to let you know about a program we use in art class called Artsonia.
Artsonia is an app that allows our students to keep a digital portfolio of their artwork! It also allows you to access and view their artwork online. We have done some awesome projects this year and I am so excited to share them with you! Another great thing about this app is that you can purchase your own child's artwork printed on a mug/blanket/canvas/ornament/etc. and give them as gifts!
I think there is a holiday sale going on as well, PLUS Beck gets 20% of the proceeds directly back into our art program, which is awesome!!! If you are having trouble accessing your students artsonia account, please feel free to reach out to me and I am more than happy to help.
Thank you so much for all your support, and again, if you have ANY questions, I am happy to help! Email me at Andrea.Carlton@nisdtx.org.
To access your student’s artwork, scan this QR code or visit www.artsonia.com/parents and enter this Parent Code: 565J4H55
We welcome all Watch DOGS (Dad's of Great Students) to come volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, please select a date and time slot that you want to volunteer on the sign up. When you arrive at school on the date you've signed up for, please check in with the front office. They will sign you in and you will receive a schedule based on the grade-level of your student.
Watch D.O.G.S. schedules follow the schedule of your student for either the a.m. or p.m. time slot. While your student is in class, your child's teacher may have some tasks they would appreciate help with, we like to have our D.O.G.S. do a safety check around the building and report any needs to our Office Manager, and overall support students in class where needed.
Dads, please be sure you have already completed the online background check before signing up. A new background check is required for each school year.
Please note one change to Watch D.O.G.S., we now have time slots set up for 1/2 days, either 7:40-11:30am or 11:30-3:00pm.
Make sure to save the date for these upcoming events, more information will be shared soon.

Parents,
As we approach spring and summer I just wanted to reach out to you about the opportunities we have for Boys Basketball. Our Bobcats Program is designed to better prepare our future Bobcats to be better skilled and get a head start as they enter Junior High and get closer to High School. This spring we will offer individual skills training and will host a free tryout for our Select team. Information for both is listed below. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.

Trainings will be planned out with an individual long-term development approach in mind. If interested please fill out the form in the link below and I will email you with further details on times and how to submit Payments.

Bobcats Select Basketball:
Our Bobcats select team will play in select tournaments for Grades 5-8 from April-June. This is a great opportunity for our future Bobcats to play together while learning our System from Coaches they will be playing for in Junior High and High School. We will hold a free Tryout on February 26 for those that are not able to attend our skills training. If you attend the skills training there is no need to attend the tryout. Community input meetings for superintendent search set for January
The Northwest ISD Board of Trustees wants your input for our next superintendent! In addition to the ongoing online survey, the search firm assisting trustees will hold two meetings for community input, one hosted in person and one hosted virtually.
Search firm Leasor Crass will hold an in-person meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, in the Northwest ISD administration building. The meeting will be hosted in the PDC rooms, with signs directing attendees to the location. The virtual meeting will be hosted on Zoom the following day, 9 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2022. A link will be emailed to families before the week of the meeting.
In Texas, school boards oversee the employment of superintendents at public school districts. In this role, Northwest ISD trustees will hire the next district leader, using community input to guide their search. Trustees plan to interview candidates in February. Trustees are currently expected to name a lone finalist at a March board meeting. By state law, a 21-day waiting period will take place before a vote to hire that individual can take place.
To see a full timeline of the search and learn more about the process, view the superintendent search page of the Northwest ISD website.
If you know of a great teacher that would fit right in here in Northwest, please encourage them to visit the link below to apply. We have several positions we are still hiring for! Thank you for passing the news around!
