Greetings families!
It has been wonderful to see so many students returning. We are seeing the projected downward trend for positive Covid cases. I would like to keep encouraging families to listen to your students when they say they are not feeling well. We are seeing a rise of students that are getting sick at school; just last week we sent 24 students home and of those kiddos 10 had vomited at school. This is extra-ordinary for us when we see physical sicknesses like this at school maybe 1-2 times monthly. Our first question has been, "Is this linked to Covid?" I can assure you, this was not related to Covid with the data we have. However, I feel it important to emphasize that taking a little extra time at home and take a tardy or absence to be sure your child is going to start to feel better should be considered at this time.
We have some great events coming up to look forward to! Kids Heart Challenge (previously Jump Rope for Heart) kicks off today. Kindness week begins next week! Our PTA and Counselor Mrs. Hill have a great plan for the week, including some dress up days, see notes below. Beckopoly is just 2 short weeks away! Our much anticipated Daddy Daughter Dance is right around the corner too. Mark your calendars!
Stay healthy and safe!
Always True Blue,
Amanda Bunch

We welcome all Watch DOGS (Dad's of Great Students) to come volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, please select a date and time slot that you want to volunteer on the sign up. When you arrive at school on the date you've signed up for, please check in with the front office. They will sign you in and you will receive a schedule based on the grade-level of your student.
Watch D.O.G.S. schedules follow the schedule of your student for either the a.m. or p.m. time slot. While your student is in class, your child's teacher may have some tasks they would appreciate help with, we like to have our D.O.G.S. do a safety check around the building and report any needs to our Office Manager, and overall support students in class where needed.
Dads, please be sure you have already completed the online background check before signing up. A new background check is required for each school year.
Please note one change to Watch D.O.G.S., we now have time slots set up for 1/2 days, either 7:40-11:30am or 11:30-3:00pm.
Please plan to arrive 5 minutes prior to your child's lunch period. All visitors will need to check in with the office using their valid driver's license or government issued ID. We are limiting 2 visitors per student.
There will be assigned tables for parents to have lunch with their child. Only you and your child will be able eat at the parent/student tables. No friends allowed.
When students line up after lunch, you will need to exit through the office. For safety and security reasons, parents cannot follow students to class or the playground.
If you need to cancel, please email beckelem@nisdtx.org so another visitor can take that spot!
Make sure to save the date for these upcoming events, more information will be shared soon.

Please remember to keep your child home if he or she is exhibiting symptoms of COVID. Additionally, students must follow a 10-day quarantine from the onset of symptoms before returning to schools. While the staff quarantine timeline has changed, depending on symptom recovery, the Texas Education Agency and Texas Department of State Health Services have not changed their guidance for student quarantine. For more information, please view our Health & Safety Protocols.
Following school board approval, Northwest ISD’s instructional calendars for the next two academic years – 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 – are now set and will mirror the current district calendar.
Both calendars feature major breaks – Thanksgiving, winter and spring – that are in line with NISD’s traditional length and style. This includes multiple additional days off for students following the week immediately after winter break and the week immediately after spring break to assist with teacher preparation.

Graduating seniors from the district now have the opportunity to apply for dozens of scholarships, each funded and provided by the Northwest ISD Education Foundation. The 2022 online application, which will remain open through Monday, February 28, is available at the foundation’s website.
The application process is open to any full-time NISD senior who has been enrolled at a district high school since at least the first day of the 2021-22 school year. Seniors must be attending an accredited institution in the summer or fall of 2022. Impending graduates may use NEF scholarship funds toward continued education at an accredited institution, including college, university, military academy or trade school.
