Text Animation in After Effects

Adobe has another program called Bridge that helps you browse through hundreds of effects with mini-previews. Great for turning plain text into unique, animated Titles.

After Effects Text Animation

Same lesson, different effects, explained in another way.

Putting your name at the beginning of your video makes sense. It can be done in any number of ways - Premiere has it's built-in text tools, but you could even make a PNG graphic in Photoshop that would look very (especially with transparency). Since many of us have a starfield background, I found a "Star Wars" text style tutorial that could be fun - it's less than a minute and was easy to follow.

Space Intro Example

While following the tutorial below I was able to create this video using Calla's model... just put it here so you can see what's possible. I also scaled the model from 0 to 100% at the beginning, used the Light Leaks transition at the end and keyframed a bit of Turbulent Displacement to get the weird effect at during the final transition. Note the stars don't keep going after the model is gone!

Fun With a Space Intro

Using the Corner Pin effect on a text box that is keyframed to move from off the bottom of the screen to off the top of the screen takes some trial and error to get the timing right but the results are fun! Don't worry about the font - anything bold and legible will do.
