VISION: Towards seamless integration of model, satellite and in-situ observation data

ABSTRACT

Virtual Integration of Satetllite and In-situ Observation Networks (VISION) is a NERC funded project which started in January 2024. This project includes members from NCAS-Cambridge, NCAS-Leeds, NCAS-Reading, NCEO-STFC-RAL and FAAM.

One of the aims of the project is to create tools which enable better, easier and more meaningful comparison between models and observations, which will help to better understand atmospheric processes and ultimately improve weather and climate modelling.

Another aim of the project, through its interface with FORCE and the Leeds team, is to help improve campaign planning for FAAM deployments and potentially decrease FAAM carbon footprint.
