Let’s talk about nature & post-pandemic mental health
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2021, we’re promoting ways to improve mental health and support wellbeing in the research community.
This year, the theme of Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘Nature’.
We have invited Ruth Allen, psychotherapist and professional development coach, to talk to us about the ways we can support our mental, physical and emotional health, and about the benefits of nature connection.
The 1-hour ‘afternoon break’ session will explore the following themes:
The evidence-base for how nature connection can support your mental, emotional and physical health.
The impact of the pandemic on mental health. An overview of impacts, signs and symptoms from a practitioner perspective.
How our bodies hold stress and anxiety - unravelling some of the mysteries of the strange things our bodies are doing right now.
The benefits of movement, and working with the breath to regulate emotions and build capacity.
Practical advice and guidance on connecting with nature for health and well-being wherever you live.
This online, informative and practical talk has been designed to help you resource yourself day-to-day with a better connection to self and the rest of nature, especially after a prolonged period of unprecedented upheaval.
