My PhD project focuses on understanding forecast lead times, skill and structure of Indian monsoon low pressure systems.
Monsoon low pressure systems are important synoptic-scale weather systems which bring substantial precipitation in India and modulate the intra-seasonal rainfall variability. I have closely followed these weather systems in my meteorological career and want to contribute in improving forecasts of these weather systems on the sub-seasonal to seasonal timescales. This will help governments, farmers and disaster management organisations in improving long-term planning.
