Requirements For Students Entering the Program

Core courses (21 credits required)
Grade of B or higher required for PSY 534, ATR 501, ATR 502, ATR 506 and ATR 508.

CAT 500 – Human Development and Assessment Across the Creative Arts Therapies (3 credits)
CAT 530 – Culminating Project Seminar I and Externship (3 credits)
o (Pre-Requisite CAT 677, for AT students with a B or better)
CAT 660 – Legal, Ethical and Professional Issues in Creative Arts Therapy (3 credits)
CAT 677 – Methods and Research (3 credits)
o (Pre-Requisite for CAT 530. For AT students, need a minimum grade of a B or better to move on to CAT 530).

PSY 534 – Psychopathology of Childhood, Adolescence, and Adulthood (3 credits)
PSY 535 – Principles and Techniques of Counseling and Psychotherapy (3 credits)
o (Pre-Requisite for ATR 501, ATR 502, ATR 506, and ATR 508 with a grade of a B or better to start ATR 501)
Art therapy core courses (33 credits required)
ATR 501 – Art Therapy and Counseling Practicum & Internship I* (2 credits)
(Pre-Requisite ATR 528 and PSY 535 with a grade of a B or better)
ATR 502 – Art Therapy and Counseling Practicum & Internship II* (1 credit)
(Pre-Requisite ATR 501 with a grade of a B or better)
ATR 506 – Art Therapy and Counseling Internship III* (2 credits)
Two (2) credits, taken concurrently with CAT 598
(Pre-Requisite ATR 502 with a grade of a B or better)
CAT 598 – Issues in Interprofessional Team Practice (1 credit)

*Note: Students must receive a passing grade of B in order to pass ATR 501, ATR 502, ATR 506 and ATR 508. A student who does not receive a passing grade of a B in ATR 501, ATR 502, ATR 506 and ATR 508 will have to repeat the course.
