Policy Regarding In-Progress Extensions For Clinical Hours
At times students may find the need to take an In-Progress (IP) in order to complete or supplement their clinical hours. Reasons for granting an IP include:
A student’s inability to complete contracted hours in a semester due to illness
Act of nature (pandemic etc...)
A Supervisor’s inability to provide supervision or an adequate substitute
Agency closure or termination of placement due to circumstances that do not reflect on the student
By planned agreement with the department
Policy Regarding Additional Clinical Hours
Students who would like to obtain additional clinical hours should develop a plan prior to their final internship. The number of hours desired, supervision, and the relevance to art therapy clinical activities will determine the appropriateness of any clinical activity. Depending on how many hours a student would like to pursue, the following opportunities may be available to support student efforts.
Students can participate in extra clinical events that are held throughout their graduate school experience through the department
Students can develop a plan for an independent study or tutorial with the department
Students can participate in approved service-learning opportunities
Students can take a course with a related program (social work etc...) that is approved by the department
