To simplify the Course Pre-Registration Process, several classes are automatically Pre-Registered for students based on basic criteria established by faculty and administration. Which course a student is pre-registered for is based on their performance in Semester 1 and the recommendation of their teacher.
For Example: A student earned an A in Algebra 1 Standard during Semester 1 and - based on assessment data - their teacher believes they are on track for a Level 4 or 5 on the Algebra 1 End-of-Course Exam. This student may be pre-registered for Geometry Honors for the next school year.
Another Example: A student earned a B in Pre-AP English 2 Honors during Semester 1, but earned a Level 1 on the Grade 10 F.A.S.T. ELA PM2 in December. Based on this information, the student may be pre-registered for English 3 Honors AND Intensive Language Arts 11. If the student surpasses expectations on PM3 and earns a Level 3, the request for Intensive Language Arts 11 will be dropped and they may be considered to move up to AP English Language and Composition.
In addition to Core Academic classes, many sequential electives will be Pre-Registered, since students more often than not take the next level if they were successful in the current one.

During the 1-on-1 with their School Counselor or on their Request Verification Form, students and their families can override the recommended Pre-Registered course in place of their own preference. If they do so, they indicate that they are aware that this change is against the advise of their teacher and the criteria that has accurately scheduled students for several years now.
