Will I receive cards for all my elected benefits?
Yes, you will receive medical, and prescription, ID cards. No cards are available for dental or vision.

Can I make changes to my elections or coverage levels?
You can make changes during open enrollment or if you experience a qualifying life event. You must notify the benefits department within 30 days of the qualified life event.
What’s a “Qualified Life Event?”
It’s a life event resulting in a change in your family members (dependent birth, adoption, marriage, divorce, death of a spouse or covered child); change in employment; or loss/gain of health insurance.
How can I find out if my medical provider is in‐network?
Log on at www.bcbstx.com/trsactivecare/doctors-and-hospitals for BCBS ActiveCare and log on at www.trs.texas.gov/Pages/healthcare_activecare_hmos.aspx for Blue Essentials HMO (West/South TX).
Can I enroll in the other benefits without enrolling in the medical plan?
Yes. You can choose to enroll in any of the other benefits.
What happens to my medical, dental and vision coverage if I end my employment with ResponsiveEd?
Your coverage will end on the last day of the month you end employment. You will be provided an opportunity to continue coverage through COBRA.
What happens when I am injured at work?
Report the injury to your supervisor and/or campus director as soon as possible. They will assist you in completing the Workers' Compensation Form available in the FORMS section above.
If I have to miss work due to a workers’ comp injury do I still get paid?
Workers’ comp only assists in paying lost wages when an employee has been off work one week or more with a doctor’s note. You will be required to use your sick time to pay for time missed not paid by workers’ comp.
What is the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)?
The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is an unpaid, job-protected leave for an employee who needs to take leave from work for up to 12 weeks. Employee must meet certain requirements to be eligible for FMLA. Generally, employees are required to use accumulated sick or vacation time for FMLA.
