Xplorie is a company that partners with vacation rental properties to offer guests complimentary daily access to local activities and attractions during their stay. This "free-to-guest" program is designed to enhance the vacation experience by providing added value without extra cost.
Free Daily Activities: Guests receive one free admission per activity each day of their stay. These activities can include options like golf, ziplining, snorkeling tours, dolphin cruises, and more. Unused tickets do not carry over to the next day.
Booking Process: Once a reservation is made through MPS, the guest receives a separate email from Xplorie with step-by-step instructions on how to book their complimentary activities. To encourage engagement, we also send a follow-up email reminding them to complete their activity reservations. Guests can book their activities by contacting Xplorie directly—either by phone or via the provided booking link—depending on their preferences and the available options for the selected property.
Packages are assigned based on resort. The following spreadsheet outlines each resorts assigned package.
1. Should every unit have an Xplorie fee?
Yes. Every unit must have an Xplorie amenity fee assigned.
If a unit is missing this fee, it needs to be corrected by assigning the appropriate fee based on the correct activity package (Explorer or Adventurer).
This step is required as part of the onboarding process for all units.
2. Can the $17 amenity fee be removed from individual units?
No, the fee cannot be removed.
We are contractually obligated to pay Xplorie per night, per reservation, regardless of whether the guest uses the benefit.
Since guests are not made aware of a specific charge for Xplorie, there is no need to remove or itemize it separately.
3. What is the markup on the Xplorie program?
Xplorie charges us:
$12/night for the Explorer Package
$16/night for the Adventurer Package
MPS charges Guests (built into the nightly rate):
$14/night for Explorer → $2/night profit
$17/night for Adventurer → $1/night profit
4. How do we address owner concerns about the fee increasing nightly rates?
If an owner questions the fee, here are the key points to focus on:
We do not discuss the cost of Xplorie with owners. The focus should be on the marketing and guest experience benefits.
The Xplorie program adds value by including free daily activities with every stay, which enhances our property's appeal and differentiates it from competitors.
A 5-night stay may appear $100 higher, but this is offset by the perceived value of included experiences, making the property more attractive to potential guests.
Owners should not focus on OTA pricing comparisons. Dynamic pricing means guest-facing rates fluctuate frequently. What an owner sees may not reflect what a guest actually books.
Costs on OTAs are already inflated due to their fee structures, and owners should be advised not to use OTA listings as benchmarks.
5. Why is this beneficial for the guest and owner?
The Xplorie program is a value-added amenity that enhances the guest experience.
Properties that include activities are more likely to convert inquiries to bookings.
Xplorie is also actively working with us to improve marketing efforts and guest engagement, ensuring both guests and owners benefit from increased visibility and perceived value.
