BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) is the national governing body for student sport in the UK, aiming to create the best university sport experience globally. They facilitate cross-university competitions, national events, and campaigns to promote physical activity. BUCS offers competitions in 50 sports, organising 150 championship events annually, with over 4,000 teams and 100,000 students regularly competing. The programme, benefiting 2.3 million students, runs from October to July, starting with Surfing Championships and concluding with events like cricket, shooting, and athletics 

In 2024-25 Sheffield Hallam ranked 43 out of 149 in the BUCS League table.
