Music
The Montgomery Township School District's Music Program begins with our youngest PreK students and progresses through the high school where students can perform multiple genres of music at a highly advanced level. Our music program course offerings are structured as follows:
PreK - 4th: All students receive a general music class as part of the related arts cycle once per 6 day cycle. Additionally, in 4th grade, students may elect to begin learning an instrument as part of our band and orchestra program and also choose to sing in the 4th grade chorus.
5th - 6th: All students receive a music class as part of their schedule that meets every other day for the whole school year. Students have a choice of band, choir, orchestra, or music workshop
7th - 12th: Students may select band, choir, or orchestra as one of their electives. Additional choices include digital music at UMS and Introduction to Guitar at MHS. All of these classes meet for 80 minutes every other day
Our music program strives to develop students into independent, creative musicians with the skills needed to make music at a high level. Whether performing in our bands, choirs, orchestras, or learning to compose original music or play the guitar, all students have a home in the MTSD Music Program.
