Prison of The Wrong
Adam
My piece is drawings of stick figures on a piece of painted cardboard with two pull out tabs on each side. The pull out tabs show the comparison of white men and black men who have been wrongfully convicted of a crime. It is meant to show the races aren’t treated equally by showing the wrongful convictions for each race.
My message is that all races should be equal, especially when is comes to being wrongfully put in jail. What I’m trying to do with my piece is to show that more blacks are wrongfully accused than whites. On average, the wrongful convictions of blacks out of 1,900 people overall is 47%. While for whites it is 39%, and 12% for Hispanics.
My inspiration to make my piece is that no one's future should be determined by the color of their skin. This is especially true when the rest of their life could be spent in jail for doing nothing wrong.
