Our first project was the Evolution of Storytelling. Where we learned how storytelling evolved over the years and how stories were told before letters and computers. A brief summery: In the ancient Mesopotamian city of sumar, the people build temples and buildings but they weren't just used for rituals, spiritual, or to honor, they were also used for storage. Back then they used clay tablets to write on and that was not useful for tracking storage, for it could get messed up very easily and took FOREVER. So they developed their words to symbols to make things easier for everyone. BOOM CUNEIFORM! Over the years different civilizations developed their own writing style, language, and tools from clay tablets and Cuneiform! It has now been a whole semester and we have learned so much more like the printing press and migration!
We made this a little while ago, it was hard but I thought it turned out great!
Reading Goal: I want to read more chapter books of more diverse categories so that I can improve my informational text comprehension and find more books that I like. I can track my progress by using the 40 book challenge paper. I want to read 3 books of historical fiction, realistic fiction, and informational. I will start by getting recommendations from classmates and teachers, then I will put them on my TBR list and cross them off one by one. This will make me feel like a more accomplished reader. I hope to accomplish my goal by the end of the second semester. I would also like to improve my informational text comprehension to grade 8 or early 8 by winter I-Ready.
This was really fun to make and also a little challenging, but worth it! I like the way it turned out, how about you?
