Alternative Figures:
These figures are used in four-dancer sets.
Foot Up & Up: As above.
Tack Over: As above.
Star Right:
Head dancers (1 and 2) extend their sticks to Foot dancers (3 and 4), to form a star. All dancers grasp the sticks with the right hand. Typically the taller dancers place their stick under that of the shorter dancers, to make the reach easier for all.
Since the dancers are holding the sticks with their right hand, they dance to the left (clockwise) 1/2 way around the set and dance in place. At the appropriate moment, they clash the sticks, typically by the dancers with the lower stick bringing it up to strike the upper. Then they continue dancing left back to place.
Star Left:
Same as Star Right except the dancers grasp the sticks with their left hands and move to the right (counter clockwise).
Hands Round: As above.
Figure Eight:
Head dancers (1 and 2) cast out from the center of the set to make the lobes of a sideways figure 8. Foot dancers (3 and 4) follow them.
All dancers complete the full figure 8.
Whatever dancer is moving through the #3 slot has right of way. The dancer coming through the #4 slot makes way for the one coming through the #3 slot.
