An ecosystem is a community of living organisms in conjunction with the nonliving components of their environment, interacting as a system. These biotic and abiotic components are linked together through nutrient cycles and energy flows.
To provide a new outdoor learning station for students to observe ecosystem of aquatic life
To create a recreational corner to help in distress and relax after a period of studying
To appreciate the living things and biodiversity on the land
About twenty years earlier, fish ponds were already have in school. However, after the leakage in the base and some other reasons, the fish pond has been used as a planting site for various types of plants. Before being turned into a fish pond, this pond was planted with pandan leaves. Under the CPT Green Squads initiative, a fish pond has been rebuilt.
A fish pond that integrate solar energy, electricity and creative and innovative ideas have shown success in this project. Various type of biodiversity can be seen in the fish pond.
Water lettuce (Pisstia stratiotes) or known as pokok kiambang in Malay is a type of floating aquatic plants that can be a very effective way of adding filtration and surface coverage to a water garden. Since these are free-floating plants (having no roots anchored in soil), they draw 100 percent of their nutrients directly from the water, feeding on nutrients that would otherwise feed algae and also used as a source of organic matter to remove toxins from polluted water.
8 various colour of koi fish were placed in the CPT fish pond. The fish grow well in the fish pond and fish were given food every day.
click to watch how the fish swim freely in the pond.
To ensure good ventilation in the fish pond, a filter system with a motor pump has been installed and a water fountain with old pot, milk pot and old pan has been produced to added value to the project.
