Half day of Prayer

We have gathered some resources for you to use as you plan your monthly half day of prayer:

We serve an amazing and faithful God who does not leave us alone in our obedience, but mercifully meets us as provider, shepherd, comforter and healer. We pray these resources increase your dependence upon the ultimate source of peace, comfort, purpose and joy.

It is an honor to serve alongside all of you.

Virtual 1/2 Day of Prayer June 1 5:30 am- 5:30 pm (American Central Daylight Time)

Please take time to prepare your heart, your supplies, your surroundings, and your people. Communicating with those around you about what this day is about will be helpful for you all. I know there is a lot going on… but our hope is that you will indeed seize this opportunity, this officially sanctioned time, to BE STILL and know that HE IS GOD. HE WILL BE EXALTED among the nations. HE WILL BE EXALTED on the earth.

Many of you have been working tirelessly getting the Global Project ready, trying to stay sane at home with your family, or trying to engage in virtual ministry wherever you are. This is time for you to “come away and rest” with HIM - the One this is all about! Carve out time to quiet your heart and open your hands to Him.

You can find the full breakdown of the schedule HERE.

The event will start at 5:30am and end at 5:30pm (American, Central Time).

One thing not mentioned on the schedule breakdown is COMMUNION, which will be taking place at 11:00am America, Central Time (for reference: 12:00am Malaysia, 6:00pm Germany, 7:00 Kenya, 8:00pm Dubai). Please join!

Try to have your Bible, journal, something to write with, art supplies you might like to use, a warm drink, candles (if you like) and anything else you would like to use throughout this experience. Also, have a worship playlist on hand in case the music through Zoom gets weird.

Extra resources about prayer are available HERE on the Care and Development webpage.

There is a place just for you. Come!

Why are we doing this?

Every month, we at the CMM, have a half-day of prayer. We want to invite you to a unique opportunity to have a day of prayer in unity with our brothers and sisters associated with the CMM. This will be a time for you to draw near to the One who knows you and loves you most and to do so with your co-workers around the world.

This Virtual Prayer Retreat came from a desire for staff to have an opportunity to be still and know that He is God; He will be exalted among the nations, He will be exalted in the earth. It also came from knowing that as His beloved, we need to seek Him in worship, prayer, and confession. We are dependent on Him. It is an invitation to rest, to be together, to seek the Lord, pray for brothers and sisters, our supporters, the lost, UPGs, governments, the global project, and to Sabbath.

We hope you will attend as much as possible, even if it is on in the background for you to come in and join as you can. We are working hard to make sure it isn’t just you in front of a screen for 12 hours! There will be times where we will interact and pray together in break out rooms, times where you are guided in personal prayer (go into your prayer closet, prayer walk, pray with roommates or family), we will worship together, and we will take communion together.

Make sure to look at the schedule. There may be pieces you don’t want to miss -like the WHOLE thing ;)

How does this event work?

This event is twelve hours long and will be attended by people all over the world, so naturally, there are a lot of moving parts. First, we will explain the mechanics of how the day is organized. If you don’t care about this feel free to skip down to the “What do I need to do?” section. Also, all of the times in this document are in the American Central Standard Time Zone, sorry international friends! Make sure to check out the event flow chart attached which has a full breakdown of the different time zones.

As mentioned before, this is a twelve-hour Virtual Prayer Retreat. It will be held on Zoom, and will be streaming continuously for the whole twelve hours! You can access the retreat by using a Zoom link that we will send out on Sunday night. You can use this link to jump into the retreat at any time within the twelve hours.

The twelve hours are broken up into four smaller chunks, that we refer to as waves. Each wave is being facilitated by a different region of the world. Wave One is being led by Malaysia and Kenya from 5:30am-8:30am. Then Wave Two will be from 8:30am-11:30am, led by Europe. Wave Three is led by the USA from 11:30am-2:30pm. And finally, Wave Four will be from 2:30pm-5:30pm led by Latin America.

We are using the Lord’s Prayer as our guide during the retreat, working through it phrase by phrase. Each phrase will be led by one of our amazing CMM staff members. We will be praying through the Lord’s Prayer two times total. The first cycle will be led by Wave One(Malaysia/Kenya) and Wave Two (Europe), and the second time through will be led by Wave Three (USA) and Wave Four (Latin America). Though everything will be repeated twice, different people will be leading each cycle through and will bring their own special flavor. So don’t be scared to attend the same phrase twice!

Though the Waves are separated by region, you DO NOT have to stick to the region you live or serve in. Our ideal would be for you to attend as much as possible, even if it is just in the background! But also feel free to jump in and out whenever you want. You never know who could be leading the section you attend, or who else may be there! We think it will be a really great way to interact with other people who we don’t usually get to see.

Attached is a chart showing the flow of the regional wave, US times, times in other countries, the topic of each period, and the main activity for each period. It takes all of the moving parts mentioned in the paragraphs above and spells it out very clearly!

What do I need to do?

The mechanics are great, but I just want to know what I need to do!

1. Mark your calendar!

-You know what kind of person you are, so do what you need to do! Mark it on your calendar and plan to attend the whole day, or set an event in your calendar for the specific chunks of time that you want to attend.

2. Look at the Virtual Prayer Retreat Flow Document

- You can find it HERE

3. Gather the needed materials and Communion Elements

-Depending on what section you will be jumping in on you might need a list of your supporters, and a specific UPG that you feel has been on your mind. You can print out a copy of both of these things, or just keep them in your mind. Whatever works for you!

-Gather anything else that YOU like to have when you are praying and worshipping. A journal, your Bible, art supplies, etc. Also, things to keep your space comfortable and your devices charged.

-If you want some resources on prayer you can find them the Care and Development website.

4. Communicate with others about this event.

-Though this event is designed for CMM staff and core people to attend, we would love for you to think about how to bring your family and roommates into this. Please feel free (and encouraged) to include them as much as possible.

We are so thankful for this opportunity to pray and commune together. Please reach out to us with any questions, and be looking out for another email from us on Sunday! This will have the Zoom link and a few key reminders.
