Interviewing Lawrence County Wildlife Officer Darin Abbott

Darin Abbott has worked for almost twenty years as the Lawrence County Wildlife Officer. During this time with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Darin has been an avid advocate for the ecological, cultural, and fiscal importance of managed game hunting. In 2017, Darin was awarded as State Wildlife Officer of the Year by the National Wild Turkey Federation because of his close work with community conservation clubs.

In this candid conversation, Darin tells me about his role in determining the social and biological carrying capacity of white-tailed deer as well as how technology is used by the ODNR and the community to assist in managing white-tailed deer populations.
