Stress Management

As teenagers enter high school, the demads from harder classes, extra curricular activities, sports and social interaction can put lots of pressure on our students.  The goal of our stress management unit is to help students understand the body's response to stress, and how it affects them both physically and mentally.  The students will also explore both positive and negative coping strategies, and then choose strategies that promote healthy behaviors and reduce stress.  The students will learn techniques like visual imagery, as well as acknoweldge the importance of hobbies and communication skills when they are experiencing stress.

Managing stress demonstrates the students' mastery of the National Health standard self management, where students use their knowledge to practice health-enhancing behaviors and avoid and reduce health risks.
