Welcome to the Mashavara on Assisted Living:
At some point, support from family, friends, and community may not be enough. People who require help full-time might move to a residential facility that provides many or all of the long-term care services they need.
An assisted living programme is a housing facility for people with disabilities or for adults who cannot or who choose not to live independently. It is home to adults with developmental disabilities, and to neurotypical ‘Assists’ where they lead fulfilling everyday lives.
In India, there is an urgent need for living options that can ensure individuals with autism a life of dignity in their adult and senior years. Assisted living is a professionally run and sustainable programme option, which can act as catalysts for equitable services to persons with disabilities.
