Among the challenges facing many parents is support and care of their young children who are either born with special needs or develop such needs early in life. This good practice series of Mashavara describes experienced-based interventions for parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Parents often seek out some programs/support to help them develop skills, learn problem-solving approaches, or receive support because of the challenges they face in carrying out the type of parenting they wish to provide. They recognise that their child’s characteristics may demand special skills in addition to the general knowledge, attitudes, and practices needed by parents
