6-8th Grade

Welcome!

Our lessons focused on the concept of memory. We started off with learning about the purpose of sketchbooks, how they hold memories, ideas, and give us a place to practice artistic expression. They allow us to look back on our progress and think about how we grow as artists. We created our own sketchbooks and used them for preliminary sketching throughout Artworks, also learning new techniques for sketching and mark-making. Next, we looked at sarcophagi, tombs, and funeral practices from many cultures around the world, looking at how these markers preserve, honor, and celebrate the life of different people in different ways. We went on to design our own sarcophagi and memorials out of recycled and found materials.
