"Environmentalism: Proactive Art"

Teachers: Ms. Millay and Ms. Anna

Objectives of Lesson 1 and Lesson 2

The students of Ms. Anna and Ms. Millay’s ArtWorks classes learned about the importance of environmentalism, our responsibility to take care of the environment and wildlife so that our planet can continue to take care of us.  Both art lessons taught the students how art can be used as activism, teaching about disappearing land, weather change, and animals becoming extinct. The students created two art products: a mixed media collage that drew upon a fond outdoor memory and a sculpture of an endangered animal species. Conservation was used for both products where the students used recyclable materials to create meaningful works of art
