Pasta in Marinara Sauce - George Kidess, '21

Background

This is a super simple, quick, and tasty pasta recipe that served me well when I wanted a good meal but didn't have a lot of time. Hope it can be both useful and enjoyable!

Equipment

    • Two pots

Ingredients

  • Pasta (any type you like! I usually use penne or spaghetti)

  • 1/2 onion

  • Minced garlic

  • 1 tomato

  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes

  • Salt

  • Oregano, basil, and Italian seasoning

  • Olive oil

Instructions

1) Fill one of the pots with water and season generously with salt and olive oil. Boil the pasta there for around 20 minutes or until tender

2) While the pasta is cooking, finely dice the onions and tomato

3) In the second pot, begin sautéing the minced garlic in olive oil in medium to medium-high heat

4) Add the onions, and when they are tender add the tomatoes

5) Season generously with salt, oregano, basil, and Italian seasoning (using only one or two of these seasonings also works if you don't have all of them)

6) When the vegetables are sautéd and tender, add the can of crushed tomatoes and some water

7) Simmer for a few minutes until it reaches desired thickness

8) Drain the pasta and enjoy with the sauce and some shredded cheese

Note: You can also add some extra vegetables if you would like (green bell peppers, mushrooms, ...etc)
