Welcome to my weekly blog - I hope you and your families are well and have had a good week.
As our year 11 students embark on the final leg of their GCSE journey, I wanted to take a moment to extend my heartfelt wishes to their success in the upcoming examinations. The dedication, perseverance, and hard work shown has been truly inspiring, and I have every confidence that they will excel in their endeavours. We extend our gratitude to parents/carers for their steadfast support and effective communication with us as well.
Over the past weeks, I've had the privilege of witnessing your positive and diligent attitudes towards the initial exams that you've already tackled. Your determination to tackle each challenge head-on and your commitment to your studies have been commendable.
As you prepare for the remaining exams, remember to stay focused, stay calm, and trust in your abilities. You've already demonstrated your capabilities, and I have no doubt that you will continue to shine brightly 🌟.
It's important to take care of yourselves during this period of intense study and examination. Remember to get plenty of rest, eat healthily, and take breaks when needed. Your well-being is just as important as your academic achievements.
Always keep in mind that success is not measured solely by exam results. Each of you has already shown tremendous growth, resilience, and determination throughout your time at school, and those qualities will serve you well in whatever path you choose to pursue in the future.
As you sit down to tackle each exam, know that your teachers 🧑🏫, your peers , and your entire school community are cheering you on 📣. You have our unwavering support and belief in your abilities.
Believe in yourselves, stay positive, and give it your all. You've got this!
We extend our gratitude to the parents/carers who participated in last week's survey. We're committed to exploring the possibility of incorporating swimming lessons into the PE curriculum and will keep you informed as we progress.

Dear Parents and Carers,
I am thrilled to share some fantastic news regarding both our Year 11 and Year 10 students. It gives me great pleasure to inform you that their conduct and academic achievements have been nothing short of exemplary.
Firstly, our Year 11 students have displayed outstanding conduct during their first exam together as a year group. Their conduct was exemplary, and their attitude towards preparation and revision leading up to it has been truly commendable. They approached the exam with confidence and poise, reflecting a level of maturity that we are really proud of.
Secondly, alongside the achievements of our Year 11 cohort, our Year 10 students have also been making significant strides in their academic journey. In particular, students studying computer science have been working exceptionally well over the last two weeks and developing their programming skills independently. This proactive approach to learning speaks volumes about their intellectual curiosity and determination to succeed.
Programming skills are becoming increasingly valuable in today's digital world, opening up a range of opportunities and career pathways for our students in the future. The initiative shown by our Year 10 students to cultivate these skills at such a young age is truly commendable and sets a solid foundation for their future endeavors.
As parents, you should be proud of your children's achievements and the values they have demonstrated. Their success is not only a testament to their individual efforts but also to the support and guidance they receive from you at home.
I encourage you to continue supporting and encouraging your children in their academic pursuits, especially in areas where they show a genuine interest and passion. By nurturing their talents and providing them with the resources they need, we can help them unlock their full potential and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Please join me in congratulating both our Year 11 and Year 10 students on their exceptional conduct and skills development. With such dedication and determination, I have no doubt that they will continue to excel in their academic pursuits and beyond.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Rajdip Kaur Kang
Head of School
In a recent project, team 9.1 collaborated to examine influential religious figures who have championed equality and justice through nonviolent methods. The group focused on individuals such as Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi, and Gandhi, emphasising the significance of their values and beliefs in the context of British society. Each team member demonstrated an understanding of how these principles align with our British Values and contribute to a peaceful and cohesive community.
I commend team 9.1 for their dedication and perseverance throughout this project, particularly as they worked on aspects of their assignment outside of regular class time. Their confidence during presentations to their peers was also notable and commendable.
Please ensure you read through the Head of Year update that is relevant to your son and make contact with our colleagues should you have any questions or quries.

Our Big Band, in collaboration with the charity B Music, has been meeting every Monday after school and has shown remarkable progress. Stay tuned for further details, and rehearsals will commence next week.
Music Technology at Lordswood
We've recently introduced a series of new music projects for KS3 focused on composing using our studio Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). In Year 7, students are getting acquainted with the platform's features, while Year 8 is diving into rap compositions, emphasizing Music Hooks, Lyrics, and Structure. Year 9 students are busy crafting their own Grime pieces. Given the diverse opportunities within the music industry, it's crucial to expose our students to a variety of genres and approaches to music creation.
Primary School Workshops
Every Friday, we welcome local primary schools for engaging workshops cantered around music, dance, and sports. Witnessing our department's ambassadors and performers support Year five students with such effective leadership, consideration, and kindness has been truly gratifying.
Bass Guitar Club
We're delighted with the consistent attendance at our Bass Guitar club, held every Tuesday after school and led by a Year 10 student. The remarkable progress made by the boys, considering the club started just a term ago, is commendable. I eagerly anticipate seeing this ensemble perform in upcoming school events.
I hope you have a good weekend and I look forward to updating you with more news next week. Until then you can always contact me directly at: l.williams@centralacademiestrust.co.uk.
