LBS Remembers: A Heartfelt Tribute on Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day at LBS this year was a truly moving and memorable occasion. Thanks to the dedication, care, and preparation of staff and students, the service reflected the heart, spirit, and values of our school community.
Talented Musicians Set the Tone: Our brass group and all the musicians gave an outstanding performance. The Last Post was delivered with precision and poignancy, creating a reflective start and end to the 2 minutes of silence that we observed together as a school community.
Student Leaders Speak from the Heart: Our student leaders spoke with compassion, thoughtfulness, and confidence. Their heartfelt words, delivered together in one voice, reflected the respect and understanding we aim to foster in every student at LBS. It was truly inspiring to see how they represent the important character values we cherish as a school community.
Choir and Soloist Inspire: The choir and our special soloist closed the ceremony with emotion and beauty. Their performance brought a sense of unity and pride.
Staff Dedication Behind the Scenes: A huge thank you to all staff who supported rehearsals, logistics, and preparation for the service. Your efforts ensured the event ran smoothly and respectfully, demonstrating the care and teamwork that make LBS so special.
A Day to Remember: Many staff shared how touching and beautiful the service was. From music to speeches, and from student leadership to collective reflection, it was a powerful reminder of what we stand for as a community: respect, compassion, and remembrance.
Thank you to everyone who contributed today was a testament to the remarkable spirit and heart of LBS.
This week, our Year 8 STEM Club swapped lab coats for calculators as they took part in a fast-paced Maths Relay Challenge! 📐 Teams raced against the clock, solving problems, passing sheets, and tackling questions ranging from algebra and geometry to logic puzzles. ⏱️
The challenge tested not just maths skills but also teamwork, communication, and resilience. It was fantastic to see students supporting each other, checking answers, encouraging teammates, and celebrating every small victory along the way. 🎊
Congratulations to the winning team 🎉, who excelled under pressure with speed and accuracy! Every participant showed enthusiasm, curiosity, and a love for problem-solving — exactly what STEM Club is all about. 🔍➗
Yesterday we celebrated our first ever Let’s Talk Money Day💸 as part of Money Confidence Week — a lively, engaging day designed to get students thinking and talking about money in practical, meaningful ways.
Across KS3, maths lessons focused on core financial skills such as budgeting, payslips and managing income. One class created a budget as new graduates earning £21,000💵, calculating tax, National Insurance and essential living costs. The reactions — a mix of excitement and shock — showed just how eye-opening the task was.
Other groups explored financial policies💰 including sick pay, maternity/paternity leave, Universal Credit and disability allowances. Students asked thoughtful, curious questions, demonstrating a real interest in how money works in everyday life. Some standout student quotes:
💬 “Does the King have to pay tax?”
💬 “You have to be disciplined to save money.”
💬 “I didn’t realise how much of your salary goes to tax!”
💬 “Budgeting makes you think twice before buying something!”
At lunchtime, the Money Fair💲 kept the buzz going with “Guess the Price” challenges, a design-your-own banknote station, and a money goals wall where students shared financial aims for the year.
It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm from start to finish — building students’ money confidence, numeracy, and financial awareness in a fun and memorable way. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Let’s Talk Money Day a success for the students! 💷

⚽ Year 10 Football Match Report ⚽
The Year 10 team travelled to Shenley Academy on Tuesday evening for a crucial league fixture, with both sides level on points. LBS started brightly in a 3-5-2, taking the lead through Mahdi’s well-placed strike from the edge of the box.
Spotting space out wide, assistant coach Manraaj Benning switched the team to a 4-3-3 to maximise Shakari’s pace — a tactical move that paid off immediately as Shakari doubled our lead.
Shenley struck early in the second half to increase the pressure, but LBS stayed composed. Adam Usman and Kamiel Mason controlled the midfield superbly, helping the team regain momentum.
Shakari secured the win late on, tapping in from a corner for his second of the match and sealing all three points for Lordswood.
A disciplined, intelligent performance — well done to all involved.
Primary Provision
On Thursday, we were thrilled to welcome six of our fantastic local primary schools, Chad Vale, Woodhouse, Four Dwellings, Harborne, St Mary’s and St Catherine of Sienna, as they arrived full of energy and excitement to compete in their Harborne District League fixtures. The atmosphere around the pitches was brilliant from the very start, with players, staff, and families all eager to showcase and support the incredible young talent on display.
With temperatures dropping, we made sure parents, carers and staff could stay warm by providing hot drinks throughout the afternoon. This created a welcoming, community-focused environment where everyone could relax.
We’re incredibly proud of the strong partnership we continue to build with the Harborne District. By offering high-quality facilities, we’re able to give young players a safe and reliable space to enjoy their football, Thanks to our pitches, fixtures can carry on uninterrupted, ensuring local children don’t miss out on valuable opportunities to develop their skills, grow their confidence, and experience the joy of competitive sport. It was a fantastic afternoon that truly celebrated community spirit, teamwork, and grassroots football at its best.
